So the taste of spring is in the air, which means the kids will be on the hunt for something delicious, something that's a real treat.... something fantastical! At Bigod's Kitchen we will be expanding our menu to acclimatise to the fresh and crisp seasonal food the summer brings, as well as providing a whole array of elaborate, tantalising sweet-treats for kids and adults alike! What's more we have been provided with a new Summer house and gazebo to act as an external serving station for our tasty treats! Meaning better and safer access under cover for you and your little ones during the summer heat! Many thanks to the New Anglia Growth Hub for providing us with a grant enabling us to do this!

St Davids Day was yesterday, and we celebrated by creating a Castle cake with an edible dragon covered in daffodils. The cake was raffled off and the winner Susan, kindly donated the cake to a local residential home for young adults with special needs. We had a lot of fun with this one, but encountered a few problems! The Dragon is made of fondant, which melts and softens very quickly, making for an extremely sticky experience. None the less, our favourite detail is the dome of daffodils. This cake raised £45 for the Fisher Theatre.

Our Next fundraiser is for Bens brother Michael, who has been trying for a baby with his wife but they are only able to do so through IVF treatment, which will cost close to £10,000. Michael and Issi are NHS workers as well, which is another of many reasons we are on side with their cause. Help us raise money by buying raffle tickets to win a delicious St. Patricks day cake! Tickets will be available as of 4 March 2021 for purchase at the Cafe.

A shout out too all the mums who deserve a special treat for mothers day!

We will be offering Mothers Day Afternoon teas for collection between 11am and 1pm on Mothering Sunday. Including assorted scones, sandwiches, savouries, cakes and luxury tea bags <3 Ring on 01986 896567 for more details or to book.

This week we are hitting the spice rack hard with our Moroccan themed evening dining.

Sunday Lunch this week! People have been giving us feedback both positive and helpful! <3 Thank you all for your ongoing support with us throughout lockdown, where our Sunday roasts may be a staple now for our regulars, they are also our bread and butter during lockdown, which is why each week we plan and work hard to make each roast as tasty as the last.

You may have noticed that the large 6 by 6 tent has disappeared! This is because we have bought a bigger one ready for the summer (and the next winter!) We also have a gazebo and a new printer provided to us through a grant, which means we will be able to print out our own flyers/posters/leaflets and menus for when we re-open allowing us to attain a better reach and let people know we are here!

Special mentions this week to Kaya and Julian, family members of Marnie and Ben who have been giving their time for free to help us on Sundays with deliveries and takeaway roasts. We wouldn't be able to do it without you <3

Also too Dylon who had his first (and very successful) crack at home-made pastry today! Well done!

Finally - There is a lot happening currently and in the future of Bigod's Kitchen, so much so you may wonder what else we could possibly have up our sleeves? Well... lets say we have very big sleeves and they are still packed to the brim! Stay curious and stay safe.

Ben and Marnie. x
